We Could Build A Boat

Wintertide Festival

Wintertide Festival produced by BloomInArt had the theme of constellations. I thought of how fishermen would use the night sky to guide their boats, and proposed We Can Build A Boat, which was commissioned.
I worked with 3d artist Lydia Maclure who transformed my designs into the boat structure. The project included workshops with children from Hartlepool Holy Trinity and Barnard Grove School. The children learnt about luminescence and created glowing fish that were given out to families as part of a festival walkabout.

I was joined by K Rowan for the walkabout and we became fisher people, sailing the boat through the festival. When the boat wasn’t sailing it was anchored as part of an art trail.
